Betscanate

Putumayo, Colombia 2018

It was a great experience and privilege to collaborate on a mural on the wall of the indigenous “cabildo,” which is the central authority of the Kamentsa tribe, in Sibundoy, Putumayo, Colombia. My part of the mural consists of pristine nature of the Amazon rainforest, and symbolism through animals and geometric figures that are particular to this very spiritual indigenous community. I have come to know the Kamensta well over the past two years and am always honored to learn from them during each of my visits, this time during their traditional “Betscanate” festival. Thank you to all involved!
